Renewing Vows & Other Special Occasions

What better time than autumn to celebrate love and the color of life?

What better time than autumn to celebrate love and the color of life?

Weddings, weddings, weddings! Ah, weddings! Did I mention weddings? It’s a word that connotes joy but on occasion notions of terror and distress. There are so many implicit (and sometimes explicit) cultural expectations from a given wedding. Is it for the family or for the couple? Why do we really plan a wedding? From my own experience, I had initially envisioned a Vegas hop for a quickie ceremony with my beloved.

Why? To avoid the complexity, the challenge of wedding planning (at the same time as remodeling a home), and the costs of a large gathering. Upon the mere mention of the word “Vegas,” my future in-law threatened disownment. It was a dilemma to be sure!

In hindsight, I am very happy with our choices for wedding nuptials. Even years later, some guests would say, “That was the most fun wedding I ever attended.” One of the things that sticks out from my own wedding and from others I’ve attended is the challenge of finding the right dress, be it a bride’s gown, that of family members, or other guests’. Unless you are directed to a generally low-quality-fabric bridesmaid dress or tuxedo rental, there is a journey ahead on the order of Homer’s Iliad to find the perfect outfit for this special occasion!

We understand. Even in our short history, we have already had the pleasure of designing two custom wedding dresses, several bridesmaids’ dresses, and mother of the bride and mother of the groom outfits. We consider designing for weddings one of our specialties for several reasons: we have access to highest quality silks and other natural fiber fabrics, in a brilliant range of colors and textures.

customizing your perfect look is our favorite thing to do!

Formal & Fun

We have one particular client who works as an interior designer and wanted to select a fabric color that exactly matched the wedding colors. With her input, we made that happen. We had a bride who wanted to celebrate a country where she had worked as a Peace Corps volunteer. We incorporated her host country’s flag colors into an accent on her custom white silk dress. We designed and made a perfect cocktail-length dress in vintage French white silk for another client to renew her vows. With each garment, we build on our design portfolio to meet contemporary needs for special event wear.

So, avoid the Iliad journey and come see us for something beautiful, comfortable and perfect for your special occasion.
